Tour boats These tour boats frequently play the canals and harborfront of Copenhagen. They have a very short profile so that they can squeeze beneath the low clearance bridges that cross the canals. Oresund bridge The Oresund bridge (Øresundsbron), in the background, was inauguarated on July 1, 2000 to directly connect Sweden to Denmark. This opened up a direct link for the first time from Norway and Sweden to the mainland of continental Europe. It also reinforced the concept of Øresund as a transnational trade and metropolitan region consisting of the Copenhagen environs of Denmark and the Skane portion of southern Sweden.
