Dr. Klas Tham, from Lund University, was the Principal Exhibition Architect and the creator of the Master Plan for the first phase of the Western Harbor development. Here he is explaining his goal of recreating the feel of a medieval town, by breaking up the large squares of a traditional gridded city into many smaller irregular shapes, with angled intersections and hidden throughways. This created an environment filled with interest and surprises, which is much more inviting to pedestrian traffic. (photo by Jim Mueller, Vulcan)
